Karla, born in Durant, Oklahoma and raised in Madill, Oklahoma, received her undergraduate degree in home economics from Oklahoma State University in 1977. She earned her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1980. Karla joined Lloyd at the firm in 1986.
Prior to joining Lloyd at the firm in 1986, Karla was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma and an Assistant District Attorney of Oklahoma County. In 1982, the District Attorney=s Association honored Karla as the Outstanding Assistant District Attorney for the State of Oklahoma.
Karla is a member of the Oklahoma County, Oklahoma and Texas Bar Associations. She is also a member of the Christian Legal Society and is a Master in the William J. Holloway American Inn of Court, where she has served as Treasurer, Vice President, President and coordinator of the law student mentoring program. In addition to the Oklahoma state courts, she is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.
She volunteers at Trinity Legal Clinic of Oklahoma, a Christian legal aid clinic to the homeless and poor in Oklahoma County and is a founding member of the executive board of SALLT. Salt and Light Leadership Training is a Christian leadership organization focused on changing the culture in Oklahoma City by applying Biblical principles to promote service, generosity, work ethic and vision for the community. The Edmond Chamber of Commerce honored Karla as the A2011 Woman of the Year@ for her involvement in the community and her commitment to mentoring of women. The Oklahoma County Bar Associate recognized Karla as a Leader in Law for her community service in the practice of law at the 2019 Law Day Luncheon.
Karla practices in the areas of estate planning and probate. She and Lloyd have three wonderful children, Grant, Kalyn, Logan and daughter-in-law, Paige, and two sweet grandsons. She serves with Lloyd in the college Sunday School class at Faith Bible Church and on the Women’s Ministry Team where she coordinates and leads the ladies’ Bible studies. Karla enjoys entertaining, reading, gardening, traveling, photography, hiking and playing card and board games. Primarily, she enjoys learning new things and hiking adventures, with her family, especially her grandsons!
